Provide us with some information about your history and your background with Fort Smith.

I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. My dad joined the Air Force soon after I was born. We moved around most of all of my childhood. I went to high school in Germany. I went to college in Santa Cruz, California. I am married to wife Barbara for 47 years. Together, we have 2 children, and 2 grandchildren. I have worked 2 jobs most of my life. Currently, I am running a lawn service. I am Chairman of the Fort Smith Antique Automobile Club, and President of Fort Smith Crime Stoppers.

What made you want to run?

I have been interested in politics for most of life. Learning about Watergate my senior year of high school, started my interest in politics. I have seen politicians make bad policies, take bribe money, help their cronies, and fill their pockets. "We the People" should be the slogan that people in politics strive for.

What pressing needs do you see in Fort Smith?

The most pressing need in Fort Smith is the infrastructure. This includes: water, sewer, and drainage. We are under a Consent Decree that mandates that we fix the infrastructure problems in Fort Smith. We have problems with: homelessness, animal control, and wasteful spending at Parrot Island Water Park. Reigning in the Mayors spending habits is a must. Making starting a business in Fort Smith free of unnecessary red tape. Applying for Federal and State grant money for our infrastructure needs is a must. A trust needs to be built between residents and the Mayor, and Board of Directors that serve them.

If you were to get elected, how would you meet these needs that you see?

Making sure to use every resource available to fix our infrastructure needs. Forming a homeless task force that fixes the real homeless problems. Some of our current Board of Directors are interested in helping. Animal control is a problem in Fort Smith. We need the control spending of the 1.1 million dollars that we gave Animal Haven last year. Arm Resort Management company needs to be replaced. The Board of Directors needs to take an active role to make sure the Mayors Budget is spent wisely.

Also, community events in the city need to be planned. We need to engage the citizens to earn their trust.

General elections for Mayor and Board of Directors will happen on November 3rd. If you are a resident in the Fort Smith area, go out and vote.
