On Friday, December 10, 2021, at approximately 8:15 p.m., a large tornado swept through northeastern Arkansas. Tornado warnings had been issued for multiple states on Friday night. These states included Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri and Illinois. Monette Manor, a nursing home in Monette, Arkansas, was one of several places that the tornado ripped through. A tornado warning had been issued for the nursing home approximately thirty minutes before the tornado came through.
The nursing home housed sixty-seven elderly residents. One elderly man in his 80's passed away after the roof of the nursing home had collapsed. Five other residents of the nursing home were injured and 20 residents were trapped in the Monette Manor Nursing Home.
The tornado resulted in severe damage in and around the nursing home. Uprooted trees, damaged cars and a missing roof were reported.
This storm was one out of a string of tornadoes throughout six states. Approximately 50 people in total passed away from this string of tornadoes.
