On February 28th, the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith (UAFS) welcomed an estimated number of 500 guests, including around 200 potential students, for Accepted Students Day. Faculty and staff members all banded together to make this day a success. Although the Admissions Office hosted this event, multiple other offices stepped in to make a difference for future lions.
Accepted Students Day allowed potential students and their families learn more about academic programs, support services, and student life. Financial Aid, Housing, and the Campus and Community Engagement (CACE) offices hosted sessions allowing future lions and their guests to ask questions about paying for college, living on campus, and getting involved.
A Q&A Panel was also held. The panel included current UAFS students who are involved on campus. This allowed future lions to ask questions about transitioning to college, how to get involved, making new friends, favorite classes, potential study tips, and what makes the university special!
Future lions were also given the opportunity to participate in “mock classes.” Professors and directors in different departments talked to these students about what to expect in their potential field of studies, along with classroom expectations. As students sat in these mock classes, they were able to get a feel for what it would be like this upcoming fall semester.
Another question that new students ask themselves is living on campus. Future lions were able to not only tour the Lions Den but also apply! Tours given by housing faculty allowed potential students and their guardians to feel comfortable about where they could be living and ask current residents questions.

As Accepted Students Day came to a close, future lions and their families were invited to attend the UAFS v. Newman University baseball game at Crowder Field. Although optional, many guests attended due to the beautiful Spring weather, along with wanting to support their future university. Not only was it a win for the UAFS baseball team, but also UAFS overall. Accepted Students Day 2025 was a success thanks to the generous faculty, staff, offices, and current students. Go Lions!
