On Friday, October 6th, the nonprofit organization GetREAL celebrated its 10th annual Havana Nights at the Bakery District. The event was a Cuban-themed auction to raise money for young adults exiting the foster care system.
Attractions at the event included a 360 video station, a live band, a wine-tasting bar, and Cuban-style food. The guests also took part in an auction offering trips to Montana, Belize, and Portugal.
Ami Curry, program director of GetREAL helped explain how Havana Nights impacts the organization, saying that the funds “ensures that GetREAL can continue providing a strong support system of dedicated life coaches who work one-on-one with all of our youth.”
In addition to going towards general operating expenses, Curry explained that a significant portion would go towards growing the program so it could serve more foster youth in the state ages 18-21.
Cheers, Arvest Bank, Rheem, and The University of Arkansas-Fort Smith were some of the local businesses that contributed to the event's success.
