Taylor Swift: Mastermind of “The Era’s Tour”

Taylor Swift, pop music’s favorite antihero, is keeping fans on their tallest tiptoes for “The Eras Tour”. True to her cryptic and machiavellian reputation, Swift has incorporated a labyrinth of surprises to keep fans guessing during “The Era’s Tour”.

Swift has promised fans two surprise acoustic songs at each night of the tour, never repeating a surprise song unless she messes up while performing. Thus far, she has messed up two songs, (Death by a Thousand Cuts and Speak Now). If you are wondering which songs might be played at your concert, you're on your own, kid.

“You think you can go online and just scroll and know the setlist? You think you can just come prepared? Let it be said about the Eras Tour: we’re tricksy”, says Swift on night one in Arlington, Texas. Swift has proven that she is dedicated to making every show feel like the very first night.

Swift has brought out special guests to perform the surprise songs with her at certain shows, featuring Marcus Mumphord in “Cowboy like Me” and Aaron Dessner in “The Great War” and “You’re on your own, Kid”. (Dear reader, if you were a lucky one who got to hear these live, karma is your boyfriend. I got “Death by a Thousand Cuts” and “Clean” at Arlington night two, so you could also say that karma is a cat, purring in my lap because it loves me.)

She has also changed the setlist since the beginning of the tour, switching “Invisible String”, which she played in Arizona and Nevada, to “The One” which she played in Texas and Florida. Trying to figure out the setlist is like trying to solve a crossword and realizing there’s no right answer.

At “The Era’s Tour”, Taylor Swift has created a night that is sparkling, flawless, and enchanting; fans do not want to let it go. At the end of the concert, when it’s time to go, fans express that their minds have stayed in a lavender haze. “This is when the feeling sinks in, I don’t want to miss you (Taylor Swift) like this. Come back… Be here ”, says swiftie, Sydnee Shipman after the show.

Though fans are right where Swift left them, they are all looking forward to what is in store at “The Era’s Tour” and seeing Taylor Swift in their wildest dreams.
