The Tower Drive-In Theatre will officially reopen for the summer season on April 3 and 4, welcoming the community back for a weekend of movies, food, and classic outdoor entertainment.
The season will begin with a double feature showing of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Wicked, offering a mix of family-friendly adventure and musical storytelling. Gates will open for moviegoers ready to enjoy a night under the stars, a tradition that has become increasingly rare in modern entertainment.
Ticket prices remain affordable, with admission set at $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 3 to 11, making the drive-in an accessible option for families looking for a night out.
Owner Jon Pickel emphasized the experience the drive-in offers beyond just the films themselves. “Come out and enjoy some clean family fun and enjoy the shows, just calm down and enjoy the sunset views,” Pickel said.
In addition to the films, the drive-in will offer a full concession menu. Guests can expect classic movie snacks like popcorn, soft drinks, and candy, along with hot food items including hamburgers, twisted potatoes, and funnel cakes, which have become favorites and part of tradition for many returning visitors.
Please note that outside food and beverages are not permitted on the drive-in grounds unless a $20 outside food and beverage pass is purchased at the ticket window; this policy has been implemented due to an increase in litter, so guests are asked to be mindful and dispose of all trash properly.
Drive-in theaters were once a staple of American culture, but their numbers have steadily declined over the years. Changing viewing habits and the lasting impact of the COVID-19 pandemic have contributed to a decrease in traditional movie attendance, leaving many drive-ins struggling to stay open.
The Tower Drive-In Theatre is no exception. As one of the few remaining drive-ins in the area, its future depends heavily on community support. Without consistent turnout, it risks joining the long list of theaters that have closed their screens permanently.
As the summer season begins, residents are encouraged to take advantage of this local attraction and support a piece of entertainment history.
By attending, community members are not only enjoying a night at the movies but also helping ensure that the tradition of the drive-in continues for years to come.
