It is no secret that movie adaptations have become more and more popular. From movies to TV shows, these adaptations have gotten everyone excited. Some examples of these adaptations include Sonic the Hedgehog movie, the Mario Movie, The Last of Us TV show, and the most recent and popular Minecraft Movie. Now, another movie has joined this long list of adaptations. A horror game to a horror movie adaptation of Until Dawn.

This adaptation features a group of friends who come to a strange hotel looking for a missing friend of theirs. After arriving there, they find themselves caught in a terrifying time loop where every night a new monstrosity is trying to kill them. The only way to escape is to survive the night. If they don't make it out in time, they will become one of the horrible creatures that stalk the place.

As all adaptations go, many people were excited for the movie to come out, while others complained that it was not true to their beloved video game. One anonymous review of the movie stated, "If you think it's going to be just like the game then you are very, very wrong. Like I said it has some mentions of it and other things but the story is almost completely changed. I liked it but I'm sure there is serious horror fans or people who wanted it to be exactly like the game who won't" (IMDb). Though this was a common complaint from those who were avid lovers of the video game, there were several who had the excite opposite reaction.

Many reviews praised the movie's horror aspects and its unique take on the time loop plot line, which has been used in many movies over time. Another anonymous review said, "The filmmakers took the core concept of the death loop and time-trap mechanics and pushed it to its creative limits. The result? A brilliantly twisted and suspenseful horror experience. I especially loved the witch sequence, the explosive body moments, the zombies, and the intense slasher elements-they nailed the genre mix perfectly" (IMDb).

Overall, the movie has received a review of 6.1 out of 10 stars since it came out. Though this isn't as high as some other video game adaptations in the past, such as Sonic the Hedgehog, which has a rating of 6.5, it did end up higher than others, such as the Minecraft Movie, which ended up with a rating of 5.9.
