Preparing for finals

Updated: Aug 16, 2022

Finals week is a very stressful time for college students all around the world. Finals week marks the end of a long semester of classes for students. This week challenges students to apply what they have learned all semester in a final set of tests, projects, presentations, and more.

Finals week can take a toll on the student physically, emotionally, and mentally. It is important to approach finals week in a healthy way; here are a few ways to improve your finals week.

1. The very best thing a student can do to prepare for finals is to get organized. Make a list of every assignment you have to complete (and when they are due) before finals week begins. The worst thing you can do for yourself is get behind.

2. Another way a student can prepare to study for finals is to start early. It would be much better to start days to weeks in advance if possible. The more time you have to prepare, the better.

3. Find out whether you study best alone or in a group. Some people work better alone, and some people work better when other people are around. If you work best with other people, try to find people in the same class with you that you can study with.

4. Another important way to prepare is to figure out which assignments need the most attention. If one test is going to be harder than another then it would be best to give that one more time and attention.

5. The most important thing students can do to prepare for finals is to take care of their health. It is vital that you get enough sleep as well as staying hydrated and fed. Taking care of the body and mind should be the first priority.

Finals week can be a difficult time for everyone. Hopefully some of these steps can help you during finals week. Good luck and stay healthy!
